Chandigarh International Airport launches Chai thela, honors employees

SAS Nagar, December 29 : To mark the occasion of new year, the Chandigarh International Airport has come up with ‘Chai wala’ outlet to lure passengers by offering authentic chai and hot Gulab jamun on Arrival. The outlet is being inaugurated by Chairman CHIAL (Chandigarh international airport limited), & member Planning, Airport Authority of India Sh. Sudhir Raheja in the presence of Regional Executive Director, Northern Region Sh. Rakesh Kalra.

Commuters were witnessed relishing the delight of hot chai during the chilly winters. The moving thela is a perfect spot for the hearty gossips while enjoying the taste of Gulab jamuns. while waiting for their luggages. Also, the chai thela offered complimentary chai and Gulab jamun to all the passengers who arrived today. It will be chargable basis on tomorrow onwards.

Apart from it, the chairman CHIAL also inaugurated the newly opened outlet ‘Subway’ in the domestic side and The Crambar and Coffee2go on the domestic side and awarded a few of the employees for their unquestionable loyalty and dedication towards their profession. Sarabjeet Singh, an employee of Aroon Aviation Service (a housekeeping agency) was awarded for his honesty as he is said to return an amount worth Rs 44000 of a passenger to the CHIAL authority. Appreciation letters were given to Dinesh Kumar, Rajender Mehta and Abdul Aziz for their contribution in timely completion of the proceedings at CHIAL radio station.

On this occassion, Mr. Deepesh Joshi, PRO, CHIAL said, “To welcome 2018, the airport has been painted with a new look with various selfie paints being set up to lift the mood of commuters. On arrivals, travelers are being offered hot chai while CHIAL Radio is serving the purpose of infotainment. After the long hectic journeys, such atmosphere at airport is an attempt to give a homelike feel to the travelers”.

Passengers enjoyed the savory flavors of Chai and Gulab jamun after which the thela at airport became the talk of the town. The new year theme selfie points were an additive advantage. The airport authorities celebrated the beginning of coming year with happier passengers and employees.

“We are continuously evolved in the innovation of airport premises. Such initiatives are an effort to keep the passengers happy and satisfied with our services. The CHIAL radio is running successfully. Keeping in mind the chilled climate and the passengers’ needs, we decided to launch a moving thela to keep the customers engaged and away from the boredom of the task of waiting for their luggages.”, said Suneel Dutt, CEO, CHIAL.
