Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said that with the continuous surge in COVID-19 cases in the district, Mohali Administration has put ‘COVID Spike Management Plan’ into action. He was reviewing the status of pandemic spread, with the officials of health department.

Dayalan said “Learning from the worldwide pandemic spread, we expected the cases to surge at any given point of time. So, we prepared our COVID spike management plan well in time and have now put it into action.

He said that besides Gyan Sagar Hospital, the Covid Care Centre(CCC) at Chandigarh University Gharuan has been operationalized with 200 hundred dedicated beds for asymptomatic patients. Besides infrastructure, testing capacity has been upgraded. Antigen testing has been commenced by virtue of which test results are available within half an hour. “We target to do at least a hundred tests a day on the contacts of positive patients so that we can check the further exponential growth in cases from those contacts”, said DC. The second TrueNat machine for testing has been installed at Dera Bassi.

In order to provide quick medical consultancy to patients opting for home isolation, a dedicated call center is soon to be operationalized. The doctors from the center would be in touch with the patients, daily and vice versa patients can call to consult if any inconvenience or deterioration in health is experienced. Video calling facility would also be extended to patients if need be.

Besides, Aashika Jain ADC(G) and  Rajiv Gupta ADC(D), the meeting was attended by Himanshu Jain, Kuldeep Bawa, Jagdeep Sehgal(all SDMs), Manjit Singh Civil Surgeon and other officials from district Health Department.
