Pre-cyclone watch declared in southern parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu

A depression formed over the Bay of Bengal and is likely to intensify into deep depression and cause wide spread rain fall over southern states including Kerala.

Deep depression may further develop and may form cyclone Bureivi which is expected to cross Sri Lanka by evening of 2nd December and may reach Comorin coast by 3rd December.

IN light of the above, Yellow alert has been declared for southern districts of Kerala on 1/12/2020 and orange alert for the same districts for the subsequent day and red alert for 3rd December.

With memories of Cyclone Okhi which caused havoc exactly 3 years back, authorities have sprung to quick action with fishermen warned not to venture in to sea from 30TH November night onwards.

People are asked to stay safe and those living in houses without strong roofs are also asked to take care. Southern districts of Kerala have issued warning to avoid travel to hilly places and take precautionary measures regarding urgent repair of structures of buildings in vulnerable regions. Quarry activities have also been banned till further notice.
