Young generation have important task on hand to find solutions for community problems: Dr. Ela Gandhi

Mohali : 450 awarded degrees during Annual Convocation of Chandigarh University
“Our generation is passing on the legacy of community problems to the next generation, who has an important task at hand to look for the solutions & make world a better place to live” said Dr. Ela Gandhi, peace activist & granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi during her convocation address to the students at Chandigarh University Gharuan. Today the world is facing many challenges such as poverty, inequality in terms of economic status & protecting moral values and youth have to contribute towards eliminating these social problems cutting beyond the caste, religion and color circles, Dr. Gandhi added.
While interacting with the students, Dr. Ela added that, “It is the duty of Universities and Educational Institutions to inculcate principles & teachings of Mahatma Gandhi among youth along with academic learning as they still hold relevance in the modern era and continue to guide the world”. While giving the success mantra to the young graduates of the university, Dr. Gandhi said, “Striving for Hard work, Creative Thinking and Following Ethics & Values in your life are the three important ingredients that can lead to success both in professional & personal arena”. More than 450 students which included 300 Under-Graduates of Computer Applications, Animation, Hotel Management, Commerce, and Computer Science along with 150 Post-Graduate students of Bio-Technology, Journalism & Mass Communication were awarded degrees during the convocation ceremony.
More than 15 University toppers were awarded Gold Medals for their out-standing performance in academics in their respective streams. “Universities should not only restrict itself as degree awarding agency but their real contribution towards society is to prepare professionals who have rich ethical & human values and can contribute with their work towards the betterment of the society”.
