A Sikh MP in the UK has been abused and targeted with threats of violence from furious trolls who think he was not speaking enough on issues related to the community, according to a media report. Tan Dhesi, who became Labour\u2019s MP for Slough in June, was accused of ignoring the plight of a British Sikh man who was arrested during his visit to India.<\/p>\n
But Dhesi vowed to continue working for the whole public \u201cregardless of background, colour or creed\u201d rather than focussing on just one community, The Sun reported. The abuse came after Dhesi won the right to speak at Prime Minister\u2019s Questions and used the slot to ask about a rail link in his local area. Trolls said he should have asked about Jagtar Singh, a Scottish activist who has arrested in India, the report said.<\/p>\n
One troll wrote to the MP saying: \u201c\u2026A Sikh British citizen is being tortured in Punjab and you\u2019re worried about rail. You have no response to that. You need a slap upside your head you fake Sikh!\u201d Dhesi reacted with fury and pointed out that he has repeatedly worked on Johal\u2019s case.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard enough serving as an MP without having to face constant abuse from various quarters (whether that\u2019s the far-right\/extremists\/others who feel that I\u2019m only interested in \u2018my community\u2019s issues\u2019, or those from within my \u2018own\u2019 community who feel I don\u2019t do enough),\u201d he wrote on Facebook.<\/p>\n
