\nIn order to disseminate the message of a drug of free Punjab and channelize the unbounded energy of the state in fields of sports, the Punjab Government was organizing Punjab State Games for Boys (Under 17) from November 20 in the city.<\/p>\n
Divulging the details during an interaction with media, the Deputy Director of Sports Department Mr. Surjeet Singh and Assistant Director Mr. Kartar Singh said that as many as 2400 participants would take part in these games being organized by Punjab Sports Department at Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium, Bulton Park from November 20-22. They said that 200 officials have been deputed by the Sports Department for the smooth conduct of the Games adding that the aim to conduct these games is to encourage youth towards sports and give them chance in the field of sports and uplift Sports in the State.<\/p>\n
They said that during the games competition would be held for Athletics, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Handball, Judo, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Weight Lifting and Wrestling. They also indicated the different venues for the conduct of the Games. According to them Athletics and Handball will be conducted at DAV College ground Kabaddi, Football and Basketball at Khalsa College, Hockey at Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium, Bulton Park and DAV College, Volleyball at Sports School, Weight Lifting at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium and Wrestling, Judo and Basketball will be conducted at Hansraj Stadium.<\/p>\n
Sh. Varinder Kumar Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar convened a number of meeting with district administration to review all the arrangements for the Accommodation, Catering, Transportation, Medical, Security etc. District administration arranged the accommodation at different schools. Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Jalandhar, Mansa, Moga have been placed at Sports School Jalandhar, Bathinda, Barnala, Faridkot at Govt. Senior Secondary School for Girls, Adarsh Nagar, Mukutsar Sahib, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur and Ferozepur at Govt. Modal Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road, Fatehgarh Sahib, S A S Nagar Mohali, S B S Nagar at Doaba Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Patiala, Roop Nagar, Sangrur and Pathankot have been accommodated at Govt. Modal Co-Education Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road.<\/p>\n
Police Administration has made security arrangements for Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the places of stay and Game venues have been completed.<\/p>\n
They also informed that Opening Ceremony would be held at Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium, Bulton Park, on Monday, the 20th November at 10.00 AM and Padma Shree Pargat Singh, MLA, Jalandhar Cant would be the Chief Guest on this occasion.<\/p>\n
