\nUnion Minister for Steel Choudhary Birender Singh today asked rural youths to adopt other professions than agriculture that is not considered a profitable occupation in society these days.<\/p>\n
He was addressing the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram (DCR) memorial lecture on Rural Society and Agrarian Disparities organised by the DCR University of Science and Technology, Murthal, and the Rashtriya Chetna Shakti Foundation on the university premises.<\/p>\n
He said around 57 per cent of the property in India was owned by only one per cent of the population and without removing this economic disparity, it was not possible to remove social disparity.<\/p>\n
The Union minister said it was the need of the hour to strengthen the rural economy in view of continuous migration of people from villages to towns in search of livelihood. \u201cPrime Minister Narendra Modi has given a call for doubling the income of farmers in five years to check migration,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Birender Singh claimed that the middle class constituted around 60 per cent of the population, which was almost equal to the total population of this section of society in entire Europe. \u201cNo country can neglect this section of society,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
