{"id":11571,"date":"2017-11-29T12:35:54","date_gmt":"2017-11-29T12:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=11571"},"modified":"2017-11-29T12:35:54","modified_gmt":"2017-11-29T12:35:54","slug":"pink-diamond-sells-for-over-32-million-in-hong-kong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/pink-diamond-sells-for-over-32-million-in-hong-kong\/","title":{"rendered":"Pink diamond sells for over $32 million in Hong Kong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An enormous oval diamond named the \u201cPink Promise\u201d was sold on Tuesday for an eye-watering $32.16 million at auction in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>The 14.93-carat pink gemstone went to an unidentified phone bidder as applause filled the room.<\/p>\n<p>Auctioneers Christie\u2019s said it was the second highest price per carat paid for a pink diamond, next to the five- carat \u201cVivid Pink\u201d which sold in Hong Kong for $10.78 million in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>However, the diamond failed to sell at the higher end of the auction house\u2019s estimates of up to $42 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a very, very strong price,\u201d Fran\u00e7ois Curiel, Christie\u2019s Europe and Asia chairman, told AFP after the sale. \u201cIt really shows that Hong Kong is a very important centre for jewellery today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An ongoing anti-corruption drive in mainland China has done little to dent feverish bidding in Hong Kong\u2019s auction houses.<\/p>\n<p>A 1,000-year-old bowl from China\u2019s Song Dynasty was sold for $37.7 million in the city last month, breaking the record for Chinese ceramics.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year a giant diamond named the \u201cPink Star\u201d broke the world record for a gemstone sold at auction when it fetched $71.2 million at Sotheby\u2019s.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An enormous oval diamond named the \u201cPink Promise\u201d was sold on Tuesday for an eye-watering $32.16 million at auction in Hong Kong.
