{"id":11944,"date":"2017-12-04T12:34:09","date_gmt":"2017-12-04T12:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=11944"},"modified":"2017-12-04T12:34:09","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T12:34:09","slug":"writing-own-medical-record-may-benefit-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/writing-own-medical-record-may-benefit-patients\/","title":{"rendered":"Writing own medical record may benefit patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Letting people write their own medical records can help patients be more involved in the treatment, scientists say.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the US found that patients could benefit if they are invited to co-produce medical notes, called \u201cOurNotes,\u201d with their doctors, rather than merely reading them.<\/p>\n<p>According to the study, published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine, the practice may also benefit doctors by reducing time spent on documentation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf executed thoughtfully, OurNotes has the potential to reduce documentation demands on clinicians, while having both the patient and clinician focusing on what\u2019s most important to the patient,\u201d said John Mafi, from UCLA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPiloting OurNotes will start at four centres in 2018,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>To prepare for the pilots, the researchers conducted in-depth telephone interviews with 29 health care experts.<\/p>\n<p>Participants overall believed that OurNotes could promote patient engagement, improve patient-centred care and patient-provider collaboration, and possibly take some of the documentation burdens off busy providers.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Letting people write their own medical records can help patients be more involved in the treatment, scientists say.
