\nMinister of State for Human Resource Development Satya Pal Singh has said the first draft of the new National Education Policy is in the final stage and it will be brought out by the end of December. The HRD Ministry is also preparing a special software to keep a check on plagiarism in research work.<\/p>\n
Satya Pal was interacting with mediapersons after inaugurating the four-day Higher Education Leadership Programme at the Central University of Haryana at Jant Pali village here today. He also inaugurated the Dayanand Saraswati Chair and the academic block-1 on the occasion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe policy aims at bringing a significant change in the educational system which follows a colonial mindset. The HRD Ministry has appointed a nine-member committee, headed by space scientist Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, to work on the NEP. It will submit its report soon,\u201d said the minister. The policy would be more modern, research-oriented and capable of producing better citizens, he added.<\/p>\n
He said a considerable number of educational institutes approved by the National Council of Teachers\u2019 Education were either operating in a room or exist only on papers. Hence, the HRD Minister had taken strong view of the violation of rules and already over 1,000 of such colleges had been shut while many would face action in coming days, he added.<\/p>\n
On plagiarism in research work, the minister said, \u201cPlagiarism is rampant in research work but the Union government is determined to eliminate this malpractice from the educational system. Hence, an anti-plagiarism software has been designed to detect copying in the dissertation of PhD\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said strict action would be taken against those educational institutes which distribute fake PhD degrees. Earlier, Prof RC Kuhar, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said issues pertaining to quality assurance, accreditation and enhancement of institutional performance, interface with regulatory bodies, budgetary process and strategies for effective resource mobilisation, effective leadership and strategic planning, reforms and new initiatives in higher education would be discussed in detail in the programme that would conclude on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
