Fatehgarh Sahib, December 10, 2017: The District Administration is gearing up for the smooth conduct of annual Saheedi Jor Mela, the biggest historic event of the Sikhs to be held here from Dec.25 to Dec.27 in the memory of younger Sahibjadas of Guru Gobind Singh, who were bricked alive here by the Mughals for refusing to embrace Islam. More than 10 lakh devotees are expected to pay obeisance to the martyrs at Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib.
\nKuljeet Singh Nagra MLA, Gurneet Tej officiating Deputy Commissioner and Alka Meena SSP today hold a meeting with district officials and directed them to complete all the arrangments by 15th December.
\nAddressing the media persons officiating Deputy Commissioner and Alka Meena SSP said that the mela would be totally religious in nature and spirit all the wine shops, gambling stalls, dances pandals, circuses, swings and other sources of entertainment has been banned. DC said that medical facilities would be available round the clock for the pilgrims 6 dispensaries will work round the clock and 14 Ambulances will be kept on emergency duty. She said that 24 hours power supply, clean drinking water; toilet facilities will be ensured. Mini buses would carry the senior citizens, ladies free of cost from different destinations to Gurudwara Sahib. She said light and sound program will be shown at Aam Khas Bagh. An exhibition depicting achievements of the Govt. by various departments would be organized. She said that 20 free parkings will be set up for the convenience of the devotees. She called upon the pilgrims to maintain the religious sanctity of the Mela.
\nAlka Meena SSP said that to ensure fool proof security for the pilgrims, the mela has been divided into five sectors and each sector would be headed by SP rank officer. She said CCTV and drone cameras will be installed to keep a close watch on anti social elements. She said that 51 Nakas, 9 observation posts and 7 police help centers will be set up. She said main traffic for other cities will be diverted through link roads and no vehicle would be allowed in mela.
\nMeanwhile DC has banned carrying of weapons, kirpans, sharp edged weapons and all the wine shops, Ahatas would remain close from December 25th to 27th with in the 3KM radius of Gurudwara Sahib. No loudspeaker will be allowed in Mela.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
