New Delhi : A gangster, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head by Delhi Police, has been arrested for killing and robbing a businessman here, an officer said on Wednesday. Police said the accused, 27-year-old Rajesh Kumar, is a dreaded interstate gangster. He, along with gang members Sanjiv, Dalip and another, had on August 22 killed businessman Sanjeev Gajwani when he resisted their attempt to snatch his bag outside his residence in the Ashok Vihar area. After murdering him, they took away over Rs 4 lakh from him. The entire crime was noticed by Gajwani\u2019s elder brother Ashok Gajwani who was standing on the balcony of the house. The three gang members were arrested in September by a crime branch team but Kumar was on the run. \u201cKumar was finally arrested in Rohini on Tuesday following a tip-off. A country-made pistol was also recovered from his possession,\u201d Deputy Commissioner of Police Joy Tirkey said. \u201cDuring interrogation, Kumar told police that he had escaped from police custody twice \u2014 of Punjab Police in 2014 and Haryana Police in 2016. \u201cHe said that he is involved in 10 criminal cases, which include attempt to murder, one assault in Panchkula, two under Arms Act in Haryana and others in Kaithal and Patiala,\u201d the officer added. \u201cKumar is a resident of Kaithal district in Haryana. He is married but separated from his wife.
