Sanjay Leela Bhansali\u2019s film Padmavati continues to be mired in controversies, and there is no clarity about its release date. Ever since the film couldn\u2019t release on the scheduled date of Dec 1 this year, several actors and filmmakers have come forward in support of Bhansali and the cast of the film. The latest one is veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who feels being violent is not justified in any way.<\/p>\n
We caught up with the actor recently, as he shot for his next, Leena Yadav\u2019s Rajma Chawal, in the capital. Kapoor said, \u201cIt\u2019s very unfair that people are behaving in such an unruly manner; taking up violence and threatening in an open democracy [about] taking their lives, raising a bounty on their heads.in a situation, where you haven\u2019t even seen the film and are still judging it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Angered with how the situation has gone out of control, Kapoor added, \u201cIt\u2019s a democracy and they should be put behind bars. It\u2019s like threatening a person with death. I am so sad that police has not taken any action yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
Referring to Karni Sena\u2019s objection towards the content of Padmavati based on their own assumptions, Kapoor asserted that one can\u2019t banish any film unless they have seen it. \u201cYou don\u2019t know what the content of the film is and you are protesting without any knowledge. How can you do that? You can do all this \u2014 of course not violence \u2014 you can raise your voice and questions once you have seen the film and after knowing its content. How stupid it is to do all this without even seeing it? Even the Supreme Court has said that wait till you see the film. So, I feel that [one should] let the Censor Board take its own decision on whether the material is suitable for people\u2019s viewing or not.
