Gurugram, August -Girls and women from Muslim-dominated Marora village in Mewat have sent rakhis to US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
The village had recently hit the headlines when it was named after Trump by Sulabh International Social Service Organisation chief Bindeshwar Pathak.<\/p>\n
The administration had pulled down billboards carrying the US President\u2019s photos within two days, but the villagers could not thank Trump as the renaming of their village gave recognition to it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have struggled for decades to get infrastructure and accepted it as our fate, but things changed suddenly when our village was named after Trump. We got this name only for two days, but it changed our fate as the government paid attention . We want to thank Trump for acting as a virtual elder brother and are thus sending rakhis to him,\u201d said 16-year-old Safutan, a member of the women\u2019s group from the village. The group has made 1,001 rakhis for Trump and 501 for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They also tied rakhis on the wrist of Pathak who visited the village today.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had always seen Trump on TV and now, we consider him as our elder brother. We are celebration the festival for the first time.
