\nThe censor board\u2019s suggestion to Sanjay Leela Bhansali to change the title of his film \u201cPadmavati\u201d to \u201cPadmavat\u201d has led to a flurry of reactions on Twitter with many users poking fun at the latest development.<\/p>\n
Many social media users took to the micro-blogging site to express their views on the modifications suggested by the CBFC.<\/p>\n
Director Anubhav Sinha said, \u201cSo Bhansali can now actually throw a party. Just that Whisky will be called \u2018Whiska\u2019 Vodka will be called \u2018Vodki\u2019 and so on.\u201d<\/p>\n
Apurva Asrani tweeted, \u201cIf \u2018Padman\u2019 picks up the \u2018i\u2019 that \u2018Padmavat\u2019 drops, they\u2019ll have to call it \u2018Padmani\u2019. From the frying pan into the pyre.\u201d<\/p>\n
Comedian Sorabh Pant tweeted, \u201c\u2019Padmavati\u2019 already got released. They changed the character name, the plot and history. They called it, \u2018Star Wars: The Last Jedi\u2019 but Indians know…\u201d<\/p>\n
Actor Prakash Raj tweeted, \u201c\u2019Padmavati\u2019 to be \u2018Padmavat\u2019 plus 26 cuts.. says CBFC… Finally has someone achieved to chop something of \u2018Padmavati\u2019. An \u2018I\u2019 from the title.\u201d<\/p>\n
There were reports doing the rounds that the board had suggested 26 cuts to the film, but in a statement, Central Board of Film Certification chairman Prasoon Joshi clarified that they have only advised five modifications, including the title change, but \u201cno cuts\u201d.<\/p>\n
Board member Vani Tripathi Tikoo also tweeted about the same, saying, \u201cStop the Misinformation Campaign for God sake on \u2018Padmavati\u2019, CBFC has not asked for any cuts with the U\/A certificate its only few modifications and a title change with the consent of the film maker. It\u2019s finally over so let the film release and judge it then!\u201d<\/p>\n
Actor Renuka Shahane and director Rahul Dholakia expressed their displeasure with the board\u2019s suggested changes. Dholakia also linked the board\u2019s decision with the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe \u2018I\u2019 of the storm has passed. CBFC changes the name of \u2018Padmavati\u2019 to \u2018Padmavat\u2019 and passes the film with a U\/A certificate. Thereby nobody will have any issue and nobody\u2019s sentiments will be hurt. Name changing is game changing… I must say,\u201d Shahane tweeted.<\/p>\n
\u201cDisgusted by the open and blatant use of political muscle to screw filmmakers during elections. Now that Gujarat and Himachal are won, \u2018Padmavati\u2019 has got its U\/A, it will be praised. Rajputs\u2019 heroism will be talked about by the same people who slammed it. Thank God we have not made a film called Gandhi! Can you imagine what title CBFC would suggest,\u201d Dholakia tweeted.<\/p>\n
