{"id":19663,"date":"2018-01-24T11:17:07","date_gmt":"2018-01-24T11:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=19663"},"modified":"2018-01-24T11:17:07","modified_gmt":"2018-01-24T11:17:07","slug":"former-gurdwara-chief-gets-tankhah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/former-gurdwara-chief-gets-tankhah\/","title":{"rendered":"Former gurdwara chief gets \u2018tankhah\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amritsar,<br \/>\nMaster Johar Singh, former president of the Chhota Ghallughara Gurdwara Trust at Qadian (Gurdaspur), appeared before Akal Takht today, seeking atonement.<\/p>\n<p>He was awarded \u201ctankhah\u201d (religious punishment) from the podium of Akal Takht by Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh following a meeting of five high priests.<\/p>\n<p>After holding him liable for \u201cimmoral activities\u201d carried on the gurdwara premises under his charge on August 11, 2017, Master Johar Singh was directed to perform one-week \u2018sewa\u2019 at the Golden Temple.<\/p>\n<p>Each day for an hour, he would clean shoes, wash dishes and perform \u201csewa\u201d in the langar hall. After that, he would offer \u201ckarah parshad\u201d worth Rs 501 and contribute an equal amount to the \u201cgolak\u201d during \u201cardas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Master Johar Singh had earlier refused to acknowledge the summons issued by the Akal Takht Jathedar.
