\nBruno Mars beat Jay-Z for the top Grammy Awards on Sunday, but the surprise star of the night was former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton reading from Michael Wolff\u2019s controversial book \u2018Fire and Fury\u2019.<\/p>\n
A pre-taped parody sketch saw Grammy Awards host James Corden audition celebrities, including John Legend, Cher, Cardi B and Snoop Dogg. They read excerpts from the deeply critical book about President Donald Trump\u2019s first year in office, ostensibly as contenders for a spoken word Grammy prize.
\nClinton, who lost the 2016 election to Trump, read an excerpt from the book about Trump\u2019s eating habits. \u201cOne reason why he liked to eat at McDonald\u2019s: Nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely pre-made,\u201d Clinton read.<\/p>\n
Corden then praised her, saying \u201cThe Grammy is in the bag.\u201d The President\u2019s family and members of his administration immediately criticised the segment.<\/p>\n
His son Donald Trump Jr tweeted: \u201cGetting to read a #fakenews book excerpt at the Grammys seems like a great consolation prize for losing the presidency.\u201d In a follow-up tweet, he added: \u201cThe more Hillary goes on television the more the American people realise how awesome it is to have @realDonaldTrump in office.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations who is known to post on social media about her love of pop music, tweeted that Clinton\u2019s appearance \u201cruined the Grammys. Such a shame.\u201d<\/p>\n
