\nThe US ambassador to Britain said on Saturday that President Donald Trump was not worried about the prospect of mass protests when he comes to the UK.<\/p>\n
Woody Johnson said Trump was \u201cmore than capable\u201d of dealing with any \u201cdiscord\u201d he may face when he finally visits later this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis President is not worried about protests,\u201d Johnson told ITV television.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the US, here, anywhere. He is very, very certain of where he wants to take the country and he\u2019s more than happy to deal with the different views and express his own view.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe president is more than capable of handling any sort of discord.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump met British Prime Minister Theresa May at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland last week and they agreed that he would make his long-planned trip to Britain later this year.<\/p>\n
A year ago, May proposed that Trump make a state visit to Britain, but there was speculation it would be cancelled due to strong public and political opposition to the president in the UK.<\/p>\n
A senior British government source was unable to say whether Trump would receive the prestigious welcome initially offered, or whether his trip would be scaled down to a working visit.<\/p>\n
Johnson said: \u201cWhat the British people should look for is actually what he\u2019s accomplished and where he wants to go.\u201dHe admitted that Trump\u2019s relationship with the media had been \u201cterrible in one way but he is getting the message out in his own unique way\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
