\nJammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said she had spoken to Union Minister Jitendra Singh on increasing the upper age limit for the state\u2019s youth appearing for the Union Public Service Commission .<\/p>\n
Singh is the Minister in-charge of the Department of Personnel and Training .<\/p>\n
\u201cSpoken to MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh Ji regarding the enhancement in upper age limit for UPSC aspirants of J&K\u201d, Mehbooba tweeted this evening.<\/p>\n
She said, \u201cHe has assured me of a positive response\u201d.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, Leader of Opposition in the J-K Assembly Omar Abdullah demanded that the government seek enhancement from the Centre for relaxation in the upper age limit of the state\u2019s youth appearing for the UPSC.<\/p>\n
He also raised the issue in the Assembly, saying the special dispensation, giving relaxation of five years in upper age limit in central services examinations to students of J-K since 1995 should be restored.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe special dispensation was being renewed after every two years. We don\u2019t know why this was stopped suddenly,\u201d the National Conference (NC) leader said.<\/p>\n
Deputy Speaker Nazir Gurezi, who was in the chair, also took serious note of the issue and asked the government to take up the matter with the Centre and restore the five years of age relaxation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
