\nThe Delhi Police today said they had arrested Indian Air Force Group Captain Arun Marwaha on charges of espionage for passing secret information to Pakistan\u2019s Inter-Services Intelligence.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was arrested on Wednesday after a case was registered under the Official Secrets Act,\u201d said MM Oberoi, Delhi Police Special Cell\u2019s Special Commissioner. He was produced in a court that remanded him in police custody for five days.<\/p>\n
Oberoi said Marwaha was earlier detained by the IAF on January 31 after his activities were found \u201csuspicious\u201d. The Air Force had approached the Delhi Police to investigate the case.<\/p>\n
According to a special cell officer, Marwaha (51) shared information and documents with two Pakistani agents who chatted with him on Facebook, pretending to be women. Fake accounts in the names of \u201cKiran Randhawa\u201d and \u201cMahima Patel\u201d were used to entice him.<\/p>\n
He allegedly used his smartphone to click pictures of classified documents pertaining to the IAF headquarters and sent those across via WhatsApp. The officer reportedly befriended ISI agents posing as women models a few months ago.
