Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who is facing a backlash for singing the song titled \u201cIshtehar\u201d \u2014 a soulful rendition \u2014 for Indian film production \u201cWelcome To New York\u201d, says music has no boundaries.<\/p>\n
Singer-turned-Union minister Babul Supriyo had said Rahat\u2019s voice in the song must be removed and dubbed by someone else as he was not able to comprehend the need or desire to cross the border for entertainment content at a time when tensions on the India-Pakistan border had escalated.<\/p>\n
Following Supriyo\u2019s suggestion, the film\u2019s director Chakri Toleti said they are yet to decide the fate of the song.<\/p>\n
Rahat then tweeted on Tuesday: \u201cIn midst of so much being said all I can say is music has no boundaries and I thank everyone for showing so much love for the songs which I am a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n
Composer Shamir Tandon has defended the use of his voice in the film. \u201cHow come the same Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan\u2019s \u2018Jag Ghumiya\u2019 which was used in the film \u2018Sultan\u2019, \u2018Mere rashke qamar\u2019 which was used in \u2018Baadshaho\u2019, skips this sentiment or for that matter, Atif Aslam\u2019s recently released \u2018Dil Diyan Gallan\u2019 in \u2018Tiger Zinda Hai\u2019 or the Ajay Devgn song \u2018Sanu ek pal chain\u2019 in the film \u2018Raid\u2019 released a couple days ago.
