{"id":23405,"date":"2018-03-01T10:20:59","date_gmt":"2018-03-01T10:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=23405"},"modified":"2018-03-01T10:20:59","modified_gmt":"2018-03-01T10:20:59","slug":"cabinet-approves-anti-trafficking-bill-draft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/cabinet-approves-anti-trafficking-bill-draft\/","title":{"rendered":"Cabinet approves anti-trafficking bill draft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"heading_small\">The apex anti-terror body National Investigation Agency (NIA) will be the nodal authority for probing cases of human trafficking after the government approved a proposal in this regard.<\/p>\n<p>The Union Cabinet okayed the draft Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill, which also proposes a punishment of life imprisonment for repeat offenders.<\/p>\n<p>In order to empower the NIA to probe trafficking cases, the National Investigation Act, 2008, will have to be amended.<\/p>\n<p>The draft Bill divides various offences into &#8220;trafficking&#8221; and &#8220;aggravated trafficking&#8221;.
