{"id":25282,"date":"2018-03-19T11:50:22","date_gmt":"2018-03-19T11:50:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=25282"},"modified":"2018-03-19T11:50:22","modified_gmt":"2018-03-19T11:50:22","slug":"eastern-ghouta-residents-return-to-their-homes-in-saqba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/eastern-ghouta-residents-return-to-their-homes-in-saqba\/","title":{"rendered":"Eastern Ghouta residents return to their homes in Saqba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Residents of the eastern Ghouta town of Saqba returned to their homes carrying their belongings on Sunday after the town was recaptured by the Syrian army.<\/p>\n<p>Video obtained by Reuters showed civilians including women and children walking back to their homes through streets strewn with rubble and lined with damaged buildings.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Sunday Syrian President Bashar al-Assad visited Syrian soldiers who appear close to defeating the last major opposition foothold near Damascus and met some of the many thousands of people uprooted during the government offensive.<\/p>\n<p>Figures close to rebels said talks were underway with the aim of them leaving to other opposition areas or giving up arms, though rebels have publicly ruled out the kind of negotiated withdrawal that helped Assad recover Aleppo, Homs and other areas.<\/p>\n<p>Failaq al-Rahman, the main rebel group in the southern eastern Ghouta pocket said on Sunday it was negotiating with a United Nations delegation about a ceasefire, aid and the evacuation of urgent medical cases.
