The operation is in progress,\u201d the defence spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p>The encounter broke out in the Arampora area of Kupwara as security forces launched an operation after militants opened fire on an Army patrol, an Army officer said. He said the soldiers reacted swiftly and launched an operation to track down the militants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAround 3.30 pm, a gun battle broke out between the militants and security forces,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara, Shamsher Hussain Kupwara said: \u201cThe ongoing operation may continue throughout the night and may even extend till tomorrow as the militants are responding to the firing cautiously and intermittently which is an indication that the operation may last longer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The operation was launched by men of the Army\u2019s 41 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF\u2019s 98 Batallion and Special Operations Group of the J&amp;K Police following inputs about the presence of six militants in the forest area.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kupwara, Four unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kupwara district on Tuesday, a defence spokesman said. \u201cFour militants have been killed in the Arampora operation in Kupwara district.
