{"id":27985,"date":"2018-04-14T12:08:35","date_gmt":"2018-04-14T12:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=27985"},"modified":"2018-04-14T12:08:35","modified_gmt":"2018-04-14T12:08:35","slug":"nawaz-sharifs-disqualification-is-for-life-rules-pakistan-supreme-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/nawaz-sharifs-disqualification-is-for-life-rules-pakistan-supreme-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Nawaz Sharif\u2019s disqualification is for life, rules Pakistan Supreme Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a historic judgement, the Pakistani Supreme Court today ruled that disqualification of a person under Article 62(1)(f) of the country\u2019s Constitution is for life.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court\u2019s ruling means that former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Jahangir Tareen are now disqualified from holding public office for life.<\/p>\n<p>The apex court ruled that Nawaz and Tareen can never hold public office again nor contest for elections.<\/p>\n<p>The verdict was delivered unanimously by a five-judge bench of the top court.<\/p>\n<p>Both Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen were disqualified under Article 62(1)(f) of the Pakistani Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by a five-judge SC bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa on July 28, 2017, in the Panama Papers case.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen was disqualified on December 15 last year by a separate bench of the apex court under the same provision.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a historic judgement, the Pakistani Supreme Court today ruled that disqualification of a person under Article 62(1)(f) of the country\u2019s Constitution is for life.
