{"id":2906,"date":"2017-08-25T09:55:07","date_gmt":"2017-08-25T09:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=2906"},"modified":"2017-08-25T09:55:07","modified_gmt":"2017-08-25T09:55:07","slug":"dc-directs-police-and-transport-department-to-launch-vigorous-drive-against-overloaded-vehicles-in-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/dc-directs-police-and-transport-department-to-launch-vigorous-drive-against-overloaded-vehicles-in-city\/","title":{"rendered":"DC DIRECTS POLICE AND TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT TO LAUNCH VIGOROUS DRIVE AGAINST OVERLOADED VEHICLES IN CITY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PRESIDES OVER MEETING OF THE DISTRICT ROAD SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jalandhar,<br \/>\nThe Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma today asked the Police and Transport department to launch a comprehensive drive for reigning in the errant overloaded vehicles in the city.<\/p>\n<p>Chairing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee here at District Administrative Complex today, the Deputy Commissioner, while taking serious view of the overloaded vehicles entering in the city, said that this needs to be checked immediately as it was creating a huge risk to the lives of people. He asked the transport and Police department to take stern action against the erring vehicle owners. Mr. Sharma also asked the transport department to explore the feasibility of earmarking the load on vehicles by pasting special stickers.<\/p>\n<p>Dwelling on issue of Safe School Vahan scheme, the Deputy Commissioner asked the traffic Police to intensify campaign for making the students and parents aware of the hazards of underage driving. He said that even if after this campaign if the problem persists then challans must be issued the underage drivers. Mr. Sharma also said that vigilance must be enhance in auto-rickshaws, buses and other vehicles carrying the students, so that they do not violate the traffic norms.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Commissioner also constituted a high level committee comprising Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Mr. Darbara Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and District Education Officers (DEO) Primary and Secondary to explore the viability of opening new gates for the school where traffic problem was very severe. The Committee has also been mandated to explore the feasibility of changing the school timings of students in schools that were on same road so that traffic problem could be avoided. Likewise, another committee of ACP (Traffic) and Executive Engineer of Municipal Corporation have been asked to demarcate yellow lines in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Commissioner also asked the Municipal Corporation to remove illegal encroachments near the Civil Hospital in the city.
