Sonal Vengurlekar, known for shows such as Dil Dosti Dance, The Buddy Project, Shastri Sisters and Yeh Vaada Raha, is not new to controversies. Be it slapping her co-star, not gelling well with her colleagues, throwing tantrums on the sets of her show to breaking-up with her boyfriend and falling into depression, she has been in news for all the wrong reasons. However, Sonal is unperturbed as she says people close to her know the truth and the kind of person she is.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople, who have know me well, know the real Sonal. I\u2019m okay to have quality friends [rather] than quantity [number of friends] in the industry. This field is very \u2018matlabi\u2019 if I can say that. People are unhappy if you are doing well and happy when you are sitting idle at home. I think that I\u2019ve always been a soft target for controversies maybe because I have not gelled well or should I say \u2018I did not do chamchagiri\u2019. People have just written or concluded about me being the bad girl but none has heard my side of the story,\u201d says the actor.<\/p>\n
Talking about the controversies around her, Sonal adds, \u201cYes, I did slap my co-actor (Ankush Arora on the sets of Yeh Vaada Raha) and I can do it again. He had hurled hell lot of abuses first and my slap was a return gift to him. We live in the 21st century and I\u2019m strong and big enough to defend myself. I cannot cry if someone abuses. I believe in giving it back [and] on the spot. As far as not getting along well with my co-actors, it\u2019s all a speculation. I have always been cordial with my co-stars. If I do not get great vibes or responses from them then I cannot push myself to be someone\u2019s best friends. Also throwing tantrums is not my kind of thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coming back to her work, the actor, who is a part of an ongoing revenge drama, says that she is open to experimenting. \u201cI would want to do a character which is out-of-the-box. As an artist, I believe in challenging myself at every point. I also want to participate in a reality show.
