{"id":30067,"date":"2018-05-04T11:12:36","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T11:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=30067"},"modified":"2018-05-04T11:12:36","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T11:12:36","slug":"centre-seeks-stay-on-supreme-court-order-on-sc-st-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/centre-seeks-stay-on-supreme-court-order-on-sc-st-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Centre seeks stay on Supreme Court order on SC\/ST Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Centre on Thursday sought a stay on the Supreme Court&#8217;s order on the SC\/ST Act.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Attorney General K K Venugopal said the apex court cannot make rules or guidelines which go against the law passed by the legislature.<\/p>\n<p>Venugopal also pointed out that the SC\/ST verdict had resulted in loss of lives and the case be referred to a larger bench. The Supreme court on the other hand said that it was &#8220;100 per cent&#8221; in favour of protecting the rights of these communities and punishing those guilty of atrocities against them.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre had moved the apex court on April 2 seeking review of its judgement, by which safeguards were put on the provisions for immediate arrest under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Act, 1989.<\/p>\n<p>Several states were rocked by widespread violence and clashes following a &#8216;Bharat Bandh&#8217; call given by several SC\/ST organisations protesting the top court&#8217;s March 20 order, that claimed eight lives.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre on Thursday sought a stay on the Supreme Court&#8217;s order on the SC\/ST Act.
