\nA red alert was sounded along the 198-km International Border in the Jammu region after suspicious movement of three or four militants was observed in the Hiranagar sector.<\/p>\n
The Border Security Force and J&K Police have launched massive search operations in the area.<\/p>\n
A BSF sentry posted at the Bobiyan border outpost (BOP) had observed suspicious movement of three or four persons in Army fatigues. \u201cThe movement was observed near the Tarnah stream, between Bobiyan and Londi BOPs, after which the search operations were launched,\u201d said a source.<\/p>\n
Briefing mediapersons about the operations, BSF Inspector General, Jammu Frontiers, Ram Avtar said, \u201cAround 10 pm on Sunday, we got information about the suspicious movement. We have alerted personnel, including the neighbouring BOPs, and the police and Army also. The search operations are going on but nothing has been found yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said there was no breach of the fence installed along the International Border.<\/p>\n
Terrorists from across the border have used the Hiranagar sector to infiltrate and target security forces in the past. The Jammu-Pathankot national highway is also located very close to the border.<\/p>\n
On September 26, 2013, three terrorists had killed policemen during an attack on a police station at Hiranagar after infiltrating from the Bobiyan BOP. Thereafter, they had hijacked a truck and struck at an Army camp near Samba town. During the attack, 10 persons, including a senior Army officer, were killed.
