Punjab which has served as the food bowl of the nation for decades is all set to becoming a food processing hub\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0country. Yes, the Capt\u00a0Amarinder\u00a0Singh Government is going all out to make the state a\u00a0favorite destination for the food processing industry and a global leader in export of value-added\u00a0Agri-produce.<\/p>\n
The food-processing mantra has got accolades from the World Bank which has given the best ratings to Punjab for doing business. Armed with its Industrial and Business Development Policy-2017, the state has put its best foot forward providing a\u00a0favourable\u00a0environment for industry and business in the state, with trade icons eager to invest in the food processing sector.<\/p>\n

Taking a major stride in this direction\u00a0Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham\u00a0Arora\u00a0announced that three mega food parks were being set up in Ludhiana,\u00a0Phagwara\u00a0and\u00a0Fazilka
The minister was in Ludhiana to inaugurate\u00a0the\u00a0first of its kind Punjab\u00a0Agri\u00a0and Food Conclave held in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).<\/p>\n

He\u00a0said\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0last few months, 150 renowned business houses, including ITC, Pepsi, Mahindra, Godrej, Cargill,\u00a0Nerolac, Reliance, had invested\u00a0Rs 7000\u00a0crore\u00a0in Punjab in\u00a0the\u00a0agro and food processing sector.<\/p>\n

The minister claimed for more development of food processing sector in Punjab, the government has provided several benefits for such industries in its new Industrial and Business Development Policy-2017.<\/p>\n

Giving details of the ease of doing business under the new policy, he\u00a0said anyone\u00a0could avail\u00a0loans\u00a0amounting to\u00a0Rs 5\u00a0lakh\u00a0to 25\u00a0lakh\u00a0offered by banks for starting their businesses and if they face any issue, they can lodge a complaint with\u00a0the\u00a0department and action would be taken accordingly.<\/p>\n
He also\u00a0appealed to\u00a0the established business houses to come forward to uplift the living standards of the poor people under CSR activity.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, 25 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various entrepreneurs worth Rs 70\u00a0crore were signed in the presence of Industry and Commerce minister Sunder Sham\u00a0Arora.<\/p>\n
An\u00a0MoU\u00a0was also signed between the government and\u00a0the\u00a0PAU during this conclave in which\u00a0the\u00a0PAU will transfer the techniques to the food industry for the growth of\u00a0the\u00a0food processing sector.\u00a0The\u00a0PAU will offer 50 percent rate discount on its existing facilities for the food industry.<\/p>\n

Representatives from various food processing industries including NABI,\u00a0Verka\u00a0Ludhiana Dairy,\u00a0Markfed, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, Punjab Agro Juices limited and others also exhibited their products and the minister personally visited all the stalls.<\/p>\n
