\nFormer Chief Justice of India TS Thakur on Saturday spoke out against the controversial January 12 press conference held by four senior judges of the Supreme Court, saying they \u201cneed not look for outside help for resolving their institutional problems\u201d.<\/p>\n
Justice Thakur was referring to the presser by Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, MB Lokur and Kurian Joseph, who had virtually revolted against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra by levelling a litany of allegations.<\/p>\n
They had alleged that the situation in the top court was \u201cnot in order\u201d and many \u201cless than desirable\u201d things have taken place, which has put \u201cdemocracy at stake\u201d.<\/p>\n
The former CJI, who dubbed the presser as a \u201cdisturbing\u201d event, said the issues brought into the public domain in the press conference gave the media and the politicians an opportunity to discuss matters which \u201cought to have been addressed and solved within the confines of the Supreme Court\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo political party or media house or politician can be accused of indiscretion when judges of the Supreme Court make a public statement that democracy in the country is in danger,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
