\nLudhiana Chapter of Indian Society of Soil Science (ISSS) organised a felicitation function in hounour of Dr Dev Raj Bhumbla, one of the soil science stalwarts. PAU has conferred an honour on Dr Bhumbla by naming Regional Research Station for Kandi Area, Ballowal Saunkhri as \u201cDr D. R Bhumbla Regional Research Station for Kandi Area, Ballowal Saunkhri\u201d in recognition to his contributions to agriculture in general and soil science in particular. The function was attended by the members of the Chapter including legendary soil scientists Dr G. Dev, former President of ISSS, Dr M.S. Bajwa, Former Director of Research, PAU, Dr H.S Sur, Former Director of \u201cDr D.R. Bhumbla Regional Research Station for Kandi Area, Ballowal Saunkhri\u201d, Dr G.S. Hira, former ADR (NRM&PH), former Heads of Department of Soil Science, Dr N S Pasricha, Dr Viraj Beri, Dr Yadvinder Singh, Dr U.S. Sadana and H.S Thind. A number of other retired members of the Department also attended the function. Dr Dhanwinder Singh, Secretary, gave an overview of the activities of Ludhiana chapter, ISSS and Department of Soil Science. Dr O.P Choudhary, President, Ludhiana Chapter of ISSS, gave a brief introduction of achievements of Dr D. R Bhumbla. The Past President of the Indian Society of Soil Science, Dr G. Dev and Former Director of Research, Dr M.S. Bajwa along with executive of the Ludhiana Chapter, ISSS honoured Dr Bhumbla by presenting him a Souvenir. Then Dr Bhumbla shared salient events of his academic career and exhorted new faculty to work with sincerity and zeal. He expressed his gratefulness to PAU and Department of Soil Science for bestowing of this honour. Drs. G. Dev, M. S. Bajwa and H. S Sur reminisced their association with Dr Bhumbla. On this occasion, Dr S.S Kukal and Dr D.S Bhatti were honoured for their elevation to the position of Dean, College of Agriculture and Additional Director of Extension Education, respectively.
