\nRefusing to interfere with the CLAT-2018 admission process, the Supreme Court on Monday made it clear that there would be no re-test or stay on the counseling for admission to 19 national law universities.<\/p>\n
“Sorry, we are not with you on this (re-test),” the bench said, adding, “Why should the students who have not taken any extra minute (in the exam) suffer in this uncertainty? What about those who have not given any complaints?”<\/p>\n
“We accept that something went wrong. Now, the issue is how to compensate this,” said a Vacation Bench headed by Justice UU Lalit.<\/p>\n
The Bench said it would pass a formal order in the matter on June 13.<\/p>\n
After perusing a report submitted to it by a Grievance Redressal Committee headed by former Kerala High Court judge M R Hariharan Nair, the Bench asked the GRC to go look into the complaints of time lost due to technical glitches and mismanagement by June 15 when the first round of counselling was likely to be over.<\/p>\n
After considering the complaints, the panel is expected to decide, based on normalisation formula linked to time lost due to technical glitches, the compensation of marks to the affected candidates.<\/p>\n
More than 54,000 candidates had undertaken the Common Law Admission Test – 2018 conducted by National University of Advanced Legal Studies , Kochi, on May 13 with the help of M\/s Sify Technologies Ltd for admission to LLB courses in 19 national law universities.<\/p>\n
Several law aspirants had moved the top court seeking cancellation of CLAT-2018, alleging gross mismanagement and technical glitches.<\/p>\n
The panel headed by Justice Nair, which received 5,700 complaints about technical glitches, ad indicted the National University of Advanced Legal Studies , Kochi, for various “defects” and “imperfections” in conducting CLAT-2018 but recommended against holding the test afresh.<\/p>\n
In its report submitted to the court, the GRC had said majority of complaints related to failure of initial login which “must have arisen from the hardware, software and network deficiencies”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
