\nChief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should first read the Constitution and then approach the Prime Minister and Parliament for full statehood to Delhi, Congress leader Sheila Dikshit said on Friday, criticising AAP ministers for staging a sit-in at the lieutenant governor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
Dikshit said the role of the Delhi Lt Governor and the Chief Minister is defined in the Constitution and wondered why AAP leaders were protesting at Lt Governor Anil Baijal\u2019s office since Monday. \u201cWhat is his (Kejriwal\u2019s) intention behind it?\u201d At a press conference, the three-time Delhi Chief Minister said she feels \u201cashamed\u201d that a Chief Minister is releasing photos on the Internet sitting on a protest at the LG\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
Contrasting her governance with that of the Aam Aadmi Party, she said the BJP ruled at the Centre when she became the Delhi Chief Minister in 1998 and there was no conflict between them.<\/p>\n
She said the Congress Party also demanded full statehood for Delhi, but it never politicised the issue.<\/p>\n
She said Kejriwal must understand that Delhi is a Union Territory and he is wrong if he thinks he can have a governance model like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe should first read the Constitution. If he thinks that there is a need to make amendments to the Constitution, he should approach Modi ji and Parliament,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The former Delhi Chief Minister, however, said people understand the politics behind dharnas \u201cas they are not fools\u201d.<\/p>\n
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ajay Maken said the AAP and the BJP are doing \u201cdharna politics\u201d as they are \u201cnot serious\u201d about public issues such as water shortage.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe dharna by both the parties is a part of well-planned strategy.
