\nA day after the Supreme Court ruled that the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, was bound by the \u201caid and advice\u201d of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal\u2019s elected government in the day-to-day functioning of the administration, the files were still not moving in the national capital.<\/p>\n
Hours after the apex court verdict, the AAP government had pushed out stalled files on transfers of officials. But the papers were returned with a regret note from the Services Department that cited an earlier Ministry of Home Affairs notification \u201cthat cannot be superceded\u201d until further clarity on the issue. A harried Kejriwal on Thursday, peeved at the refusal by bureaucrats to comply with directives on a clutch of transfers and postings, warned them of \u201cserious consequences\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said their open defiance of the SC order amounted to contempt of court. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who is in charge of the Services portfolio, has again asked Principal Secretary of the department to issue Wednesday\u2019s directions on the postings and transfers, reiterating that failure to do so would invite \u201cdisciplinary action\u201d. Baijal, however, chose to maintain a stoic silence.<\/p>\n
The CM, who had earlier said the Narendra Modi-led government had tied his hands and feet for three-and-a-half-years, has now once again written to Baijal for \u201csupport and cooperation\u201d in implementing the SC ruling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
