{"id":37353,"date":"2018-07-26T11:38:13","date_gmt":"2018-07-26T11:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=37353"},"modified":"2018-07-26T11:38:13","modified_gmt":"2018-07-26T11:38:13","slug":"venezuela-to-remove-five-zeroes-from-currency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/venezuela-to-remove-five-zeroes-from-currency\/","title":{"rendered":"Venezuela to remove five zeroes from currency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Caracas<br \/>\nVenezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Thursday announced the removal of five zeroes from the country\u2019s currency &#8211; two more than originally planned &#8211; amid hyperinflation the IMF said could reach one million percent this year.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro announced in a cabinet meeting that an \u201ceconomic recovery\u201d program involving \u201cmonetary reconversion\u201d would commence August 20.<\/p>\n<p>He previously said new bolivar bills with three zeroes fewer would enter circulation on August 4 &#8212; a measure already pushed back from June 4 at the request of banks.<\/p>\n<p>The measure, according to Maduro, seeks to \u201cprotect\u201d local currency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFive zeroes fewer, so that we may have a new, stable financial and monetary system,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro blames hyperinflation on what he calls a \u201cwar\u201d against the currency which is in serious shortage including exporting it to other countries such as neighbouring Colombia.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Caracas Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Thursday announced the removal of five zeroes from the country\u2019s currency &#8211; two more than originally planned &#8211; amid hyperinflation the IMF said could reach one million percent this year.
