\nA total of 2,49,220 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine since the commencement of the yatra on June 28 till July 26.<\/p>\n
At a review meeting chaired by Governor NN Vohra, who is also the Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, here on Friday, Chief Executive Officer of the board Umang Narula said the daily average arrival of pilgrims was showing a decline.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by Adviser K Vijay Kumar, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, Director General of Police SP Vaid and General Officer Commanding, 15 Corps, Lt Gen AK Bhatt.<\/p>\n
The meeting reviewed the security aspects relating to the movement of the declining number of yatris and the langar organisations which will be moving out of the Valley after finishing their assigned tenures.<\/p>\n
The meeting also discussed the security environment and the status of preparedness for meeting any unforeseen situation arising in the Valley and on the Baltal and Chandanwari routes.<\/p>\n
The Governor would further review the number of the incoming pilgrims on July 31 and consider the requirement of change and rationalisation of the existing arrangements.<\/p>\n
The CEO has been directed to hold urgent consultations with the DC, Jammu, and other officers concerned on organising the daily convoy of pilgrims from Jammu to Kashmir.<\/p>\n
The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, told the meeting that he had been regularly monitoring the basic facilities, including medical services, water and power supplies. He said all emerging issues were being handled on an immediate basis. He said the wire mesh fence and protection works had been completed on the most vulnerable stretches of the Railpathri-Brarimarg track to ensure the safety of pilgrims and service providers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
