\nIn a show of unity, leaders of a number of Opposition parties, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi, joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in a massive protest at Jantar Mantar over the alleged rape of young girls at a shelter home in Bihar\u2019s Muzaffarpur and demanded that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should take immediate action against the accused.<\/p>\n
Prominent leaders who joined the protest included Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, RJD\u2019s Tejashwi Yadav and Misa Bharti, CPM\u2019s Sitaram Yechury, CPI\u2019s D Raja and Atul Kumar Anjan, Loktantrik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav and TMC\u2019s Dinesh Trivedi.<\/p>\n
Congress president Rahul Gandhi said if Nitish Kumar was ashamed of the incident, he should immediately act against the culprits. \u201cWe stand with the women of India, we stand with the girls and their families who suffered in that shelter home,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Tejashwi Yadav demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the incident. The accused should be given exemplary punishment and steps taken to ensure this does not happen again, he said.<\/p>\n
Recalling the Nirbhaya incident in Delhi, Kejriwal said fast-track courts should be set to award death sentence to the accused for such heinous crime. \u201cI demand this case be probe in three months and the convicts hanged,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
