Actor Kamal Haasan, who has inspired generations of filmmakers in India, recently revealed the international directors and films that shaped his decorative film career spanning over six decades.<\/p>\n
\u201c Brando is an important influence along with many British as well as American directors including the modern ones like Alan Parker & Kubrick. It\u2019s almost like when you find a director on your own and then he becomes a great director, you become very parental towards the person. You feel proud to see your son grow, however old he is, it doesn\u2019t matter,\u201d Kamal said in an interview with MN+ channel.<\/p>\n
The actor also said he was a fan of Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski\u2019s work while terming him as a master in the field of cinema. \u201cKie\u015blowski became a legend after Bergman, however, I was most drawn to his work after watching his film Camera Buff,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother film is Alan Parker\u2019s The Wall. It is something that hit me so strongly. Then there is Ridley Scott\u2019s first film called The Duellists. It was his first film and I thought, there is a very great director in the making and it proved right and I feel like a father to him. He\u2019s probably older than me, but it doesn\u2019t matter,\u201d he added.

Kamal Haasan also discussed his favourite Hollywood movie that inspired him to make his classic gangster drama Nayakan. \u201cThe one that gives me goosebumps is Once Upon a Time in America of Ennio Morricone and Sergio Leone. It was very instrumental for us to get inspired to make Nayakan. Leone set a trend that many ad filmmakers followed afterward, and Morricone\u2019s music lives at least for four generations now. There are so many things, especially the casting, that made Once Upon a Time in America astounding. You don\u2019t have to explain with dialogues.
