About 40 participants from different districts attended this training programme.<\/p>\n<p>Dr BVC Mahajan, Director, PHPTC, said the participants were given hands-on- training in the operation and calibration of grain moisture meter. \u201cThe PHPTC has a moisture meter calibration laboratory which has been repairing, maintaining and calibrating all types of grain moisture meters of Punjab State Mandi Board for the last more than eight years,\u201d he added. This is the only laboratory in the region which has been performing the calibration activities in the state of Punjab twice a year before the start of procurement of grains in April and October, he informed. Based on the successful calibration work of moisture meters, the Punjab State Mandi Board has desired that all the Mandi Supervisors and other related staff involved in the handling and operation of grain moisture meter be enlightened about the correct sampling techniques and operation in the field, he said. Dr Mahajan said similar training programmes will also be conducted on September 9, 16 and 23, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Coordinator, Dr Mahesh Kumar, Professor, Processing and Food Engineering, and Incharge of Moisture Calibration Lab, urged the trainees to explain the difficulties faced by them in the fields.
