{"id":43446,"date":"2018-10-01T11:30:21","date_gmt":"2018-10-01T11:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=43446"},"modified":"2018-10-01T11:30:21","modified_gmt":"2018-10-01T11:30:21","slug":"maldives-hc-orders-release-of-former-president-maumoon-abdul-gayoom-his-son","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/maldives-hc-orders-release-of-former-president-maumoon-abdul-gayoom-his-son\/","title":{"rendered":"Maldives HC orders release of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, his son"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maldives High Court on Sunday ordered release of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and his son on bail, along with leader of opposition Jumhooree party.<\/p>\n<p>The former President was arrested in February for allegedly trying to overthrow the government of President Abdulla Yameen.<\/p>\n<p>President Yameen, who lost the Presidential elections last Sunday, had imposed emergency and arrested several including Gayoom after a Supreme Court ruling for release of opposition leaders.<\/p>\n<p>His son Faris Maumoon was sentenced to four months prison for allegedly misusing the flag of Progressive party of Maldives ( PPM).<\/p>\n<p>The PPM, founded by Gayoom, split during a leadership dispute between him and his half-brother President Abdulla Yameen.
