\nTo look into terror funding in the Valley, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued directions to the state home department to set up special courts on the lines of National Investigation Agency (NIA) courts in Jammu and Srinagar.<\/p>\n
In a written communication to the state, the MHA said, \u201cA specially constituted group of the J&K Police could expedite investigation into the cases against separatists while the state home department apart from expediting prosecution and sanction, could nominate special courts at Srinagar and Jammu to try the cases under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act on the lines of NIA courts.\u201d<\/p>\n
The home department has been asked to expedite UAPA cases as many are stuck with them in the absence of sanction.<\/p>\n
The ministry asked the police to hand over copies of FIRs and challans in the terror-funding cases to the Enforcement Directorate for initiation of further action in money laundering cases from the state.<\/p>\n
The cross-Line of Control traders have also come under the scanner with revenue intelligence authorities set to investigate the money laundering cases.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Jammu and\u0010Kashmir Police would also inquire into the names of hawala operators and cross-LoC traders shared by the National Investigation Agency and Enforcement Directorate while the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence would take up a few of these cases to understand the modus operandi in trade-based money laundering,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
