President Donald Trump said he is certain that his daughter Ivanka would be \u201cdynamite\u201d as the US ambassador to the UN, but conceded that he would be accused of \u201cnepotism\u201d if he selected her to replace Indian-American Nikki Haley.<\/p>\n
As President Trump heaped praise on Haley\u2019s performance during her tenure as the envoy to the world body, he said many people would like to replace her. Trump said that he expects to name a replacement for Haley in the next \u201ctwo to three weeks,\u201d and said that he would be talking about candidates with the former South Carolina governor and others. The US president described his second child as \u201cdynamite\u201d Trump said his daughter Ivanka would make an \u201cincredible\u201d ambassador to the UN.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe people that know it\u2019s nothing to do with nepotism. But I want tell you: The people that know, know that Ivanka would be dynamite. But, you know, I\u2019d then be accused of nepotism, if you can believe it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Ivanka would be incredible. That doesn\u2019t mean I\u2019d pick her, because you\u2019d be accused of nepotism, even though I\u2019m not sure there\u2019s anybody more competent in the world. But that\u2019s okay,\u201d Trump said in response to a question. Soon after the President\u2019s remarks, Ivanka, 36, took to Twitter to rule herself out of the running for ambassadorship.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is an honor to serve in the White House alongside so many great colleagues and I know that the President will nominate a formidable replacement for Ambassador Haley. That replacement will not be me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Ivanka is a businesswoman, fashion designer, author and reality television personality. Speculation that Ivanka would take on the post mounted after Haley praised her and her husband, Jared Kushner, in discussing her resignation in the Oval Office.
