{"id":45279,"date":"2018-10-24T10:59:48","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T10:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=45279"},"modified":"2018-10-24T10:59:48","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T10:59:48","slug":"uk-pm-mays-brexit-transition-plan-could-last-for-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/uk-pm-mays-brexit-transition-plan-could-last-for-years\/","title":{"rendered":"UK PM May\u2019s Brexit transition plan could last for years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UK Prime Minister Theresa May\u2019s Brexit plan could leave Britain in a \u201clong running\u201d multiyear transition period, the London Times reported on Wednesday citing leaked documents seen by the newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>According to the leaked documents, the plan \u201ccould in theory, lead to a long running IP (implementation period)\u201d and the arrangement could last for many years on a \u201crolling\u201d basis with an \u201cannual decision point\u201d where any transition extension is reviewed .<\/p>\n<p>The documents were drawn up by May\u2019s principal Europe adviser, Oliver Robbins, on instructions from May\u2019s office, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>The documents reveal that cabinet ministers have been presented with different models to work out what would happen if a trade deal to govern UK\u2019s future relationship with the EU was not reached by the end of the transition period, the Times said.<\/p>\n<p>With just over five months until Britain is scheduled to leave the EU, Brexit talks have stalled over a disagreement on the so-called Northern Irish \u201cbackstop\u201d, an insurance policy to ensure there will be no return to a hard border on the island of Ireland if a future trading relationship is not agreed in time.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UK Prime Minister Theresa May\u2019s Brexit plan could leave Britain in a \u201clong running\u201d multiyear transition period, the London Times reported on Wednesday citing leaked documents seen by the newspaper.
