\nA day after J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik said regional parties have no mandate to pitch for an Indo-Pak dialogue, former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti said on Thursday that the people of the state are the worst victims of the acrimony between the two neighbours.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is the people of the state who are the worst victims of the acrimony and also beneficiaries of friendship between India and Pakistan,\u201d she was quoted as having said while interacting with workers from Kupwara and Idgah Assembly constituencies here.<\/p>\n
Claiming that the relations with Pakistan had a direct bearing on the situation in the state, she said times have exemplified that whenever the relations between India and Pakistan were good, people in the state enjoyed an era of peace, development and dialogue.<\/p>\n
\u201cGood governance surely restores the confidence of people but all efforts get wasted in the absence of dialogue and engagement, internally and externally,\u201d she said, adding that the disruption of this engagement had resulted into a situation where people felt alienated from the system.<\/p>\n
Mehbooba said daily killings in the state were the result of absence of a respectable political process and engagement which she said ought to be restored to instil confidence in the system among people and stop the killing spree in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
