{"id":48776,"date":"2018-12-01T10:39:25","date_gmt":"2018-12-01T10:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=48776"},"modified":"2018-12-01T10:39:25","modified_gmt":"2018-12-01T10:39:25","slug":"new-self-powered-sensor-to-monitor-heart-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/new-self-powered-sensor-to-monitor-heart-failure\/","title":{"rendered":"New self-powered sensor to monitor heart failure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chinese scientists have designed an implant and self-powered sensor that can help monitor heart failure, a global public health problem in which the heart is incapable of pumping sufficient blood to meet the body&#8217;s needs.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the triboelectric nanogenerator that can convert bio-mechanical energy into electricity, scientists from the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to develop a miniaturised self-powered sensor that can enter the heart with minimally invasive surgery .<\/p>\n<p>The sensor is 1.5 cm long, 1 cm wide and 0.1 cm high. It has been experimented on pig models and integrated with a surgical catheter for minimally invasive implantation.<br \/>\nIt can conduct ultra-sensitive, real-time monitoring, and has mechanical stability. It can also detect ventricular fibrillation and ventricular premature contraction.<\/p>\n<p>According to Liu Zhuo, one of the researchers, the study may help encourage the development of more miniature implantable medical sensors for monitoring and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The sensor is promising for clinical application.
