Rex Tillerson, the former US secretary of state, broke his silence Thursday calling his former boss, President Donald Trump, \u201cundisciplined\u201d and saying that he was given to violating the law.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat was challenging for me coming from the disciplined, highly process-oriented Exxon Mobil corporation, was to go to work for a man who is pretty undisciplined, doesn\u2019t like to read, doesn\u2019t read briefing reports, doesn\u2019t like to get into the details of a lot of things, but rather just kind of says, \u2018This is what I believe\u2019,\u201d Tillerson said at an event in Houston, Texas.<\/p>\n
Tillerson was a career oilman who became Trump\u2019s surprise pick as secretary of state. But things did not work out between them and he had once reportedly called the president a \u201cmoron\u201d and never expressly denied it. He did not repeat that assessment at the Houston event but his remarks were stark.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo often, the president would say, \u2018Here\u2019s what I want to do, and here\u2019s how I want to do it,\u2019 \u201c Tillerson said, according to the Houston Chronicle, \u201cand I would have to say to him, \u2018Mr. President, I understand what you want to do, but you can\u2019t do it that way. It violates the law\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former secretary of state also said he felt Trump acted on his instincts. \u201cHe acts on his instincts; in some respects, that looks like impulsiveness. But it\u2019s not his intent to act on impulse. I think he really is trying to act on his instincts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
