{"id":51669,"date":"2019-01-03T11:27:26","date_gmt":"2019-01-03T11:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=51669"},"modified":"2019-01-03T11:27:26","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T11:27:26","slug":"draft-of-new-sri-lankan-constitution-to-be-presented-in-parliament-before-4-feb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/draft-of-new-sri-lankan-constitution-to-be-presented-in-parliament-before-4-feb\/","title":{"rendered":"Draft of new Sri Lankan constitution to be presented in Parliament before 4 Feb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Amidst continuing political churning in Sri Lanka, Tamil National Alliance has said that draft of new constitution will be presented to parliament before 4 February this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TNA leader and former opposition leader R.A.Sampanthan told a delegation of European leaders that the draft Constitution which was prepared by a panel of experts and which was to be presented in Parliament on December 7 last year, will be presented before February 4.<\/p>\n<p>Sampanthan pointed out that the new Constitution must ensure that the country is undivided and indivisible. He added that the new constitution must also ensure that there is a genuine power-sharing arrangement which allows the provincial governments to exercise powers that are connected to their day to day life.<\/p>\n<p>The new constitution was a major plank of new government of President Maithripala Sirsena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremsinghe elected in 2015 in a bid to resolve the ethnic crisis.However, the progress on it has been very slow due to differences between various stakeholders.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amidst continuing political churning in Sri Lanka, Tamil National Alliance has said that draft of new constitution will be presented to parliament before 4 February this year.
