{"id":51915,"date":"2019-01-06T09:53:52","date_gmt":"2019-01-06T09:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=51915"},"modified":"2019-01-06T09:53:52","modified_gmt":"2019-01-06T09:53:52","slug":"special-court-in-mumbai-declares-mallya-fugitive-economic-offender","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/special-court-in-mumbai-declares-mallya-fugitive-economic-offender\/","title":{"rendered":"Special court in Mumbai declares Mallya fugitive economic offender"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mumbai<br \/>\nA special court set up under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act on Saturday declared absconding liquor baron Vijay Mallya a \u2018fugitive economic offender\u2019 which allows the Indian government to confiscate his properties under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Hearing a petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate, Special Judge MS Azmi of the PMLA court declared Mallya an FEO under Section 12 of the Act. A plea by Mallya\u2019s counsel to stay the order declaring the industrialist an FEO in order to enable him to file an appeal was also rejected by the court.The special PMLA court will now begin hearing arguments for attachment of Mallya\u2019s properties on February 5.<\/p>\n<p>According to officials here, the government will now be in a position to confiscate Mallya\u2019s properties whether or not they were purchased from proceeds of any crime he has been charged with.
