North Korea needs to take \u201cmore bold, practical measures for denuclearisation\u201d to ensure sanctions are lifted, the South\u2019s President Moon Jae-in said Thursday with negotiations stalling between Pyongyang and Washington.<\/p>\n
\u201cCorresponding measures must be devised in order to facilitate North Korea\u2019s continued denuclearisation efforts,\u201d he added, such as the US agreeing a \u201cpeace regime\u201d and formally declaring an end to the 1950-53 Korean War.<\/p>\n
\u201cKim Jong Un understands that the issue is entirely up to the decision of South Korea and the United States.\u201dUS strategic assets in the region involved not only North Korea, \u201cbut also overall stability and peace in Northeast Asia\u201d, Moon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think it will be discussed in North-US nuclear talks.\u201d\u201cBut Kim has assured many foreign leaders, including myself, Trump, Xi Jinping and Putin, that his concept is no different in any way from what the international community demands,\u201d Moon told reporters at the Blue House in Seoul.<\/p>\n
\u201cKim also stated that denuclearisation and the issue of ending the war has nothing to do with the status of US troops in South Korea,\u201d he added.The North Korean leader\u2019s trip to China this week was a sign a second Trump-Kim summit was \u201cimminent\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Chairman Kim Jong Un\u2019s visit to China will have a very positive effect on the success of the second US-North Korea summit,\u201d he told the press conference. A second summit should produce an agreement that was \u201cmore clear on actions by each side\u201d, he added.
